Bohemia Design | Moroccan Leather Pouffe, Lemon (Slight Seconds)
Based in the beautiful historical city of Edinburgh, Scotland our design studio and warehouse is located near the port of Leith, a bohemian district renowned for it’s thriving community of artisans, designers, writers and musicians.
Bohemia was founded in 2006 by Jenny Lockton, and is the culmination of years of experience working with artists and craftspeople around the world. Bohemia was established to build relationships with artisan producers and through these collaborations help to support meaningful employment and ensure the survival of awe- inspiring tradtional crafts.
Our business is all about human relationships, the friendships we have forged over many years with our wonderful producers and the loyalty and support given so freely by our lovely customers.
It all started many years ago on a journey to Marrakech when we met with an amazing artisan who started making beautiful soft and supple leather babouche slippers for us. 20 years on we continue to work with Hamid, and his slippers remain one of our most popular products. Hamid and his family are very much a part of our extended family of bohemians and the tribe just keeps on growing!
We now partner with weavers of baskets and blankets, wood craftsmen and leather workers in Morocco, traditional hand block printers, jewellers and pom pom makers in India and jewellers in Istanbul, Turkey. Alongside the design and production of our own line of prints and fabrics we also source vintage textiles from rugs to sequinned Handira blankets and incredible Berber pots and plates from the Sahara region of Morocco.
